The main activities of the club includes
• Biodiversity plot preservation / nurturing
The biodiversity plot of 7 cents of the college campus behind the Chemistry department planted with rare and valuable fruit trees like Lichi, Mangosteen, Rambutan, Sapota, Lovi-lovi, Guava etc. is regularly nurtured and well maintained by students of nature club.
• Organizing seminars and workshops to create awareness about the conservation of environment.
• Conducting nature camps
• Potting, labeling and nurturing of medicinal plants
• Making and tending bottle garden with used plastic water bottles
• Celebration of World Environment Day
The various institutions coming under M.A.College Association jointly celebrate the ‘World Environment Day’ on June 5th every year. Many programmes like planting of fruit tree saplings and star trees in the college campus and M.P. Varghese Tree Park are conducted in association with the environment day.
• Preservation of Biodiversity plot at Thattekkad
A biodiversity plot of over 2 acres at Thattekkad, the picturesque tourist-spot destination was planted with about 100 varieties of plants which includes rare fruit trees and medicinal plants. The members of the nature club under the leadership of the teachers–in-charge regularly carry out various activities for the development of the plot. A pond was cleared by the students in order to carry out a fish farming project. Then different breeds of fish were introduced and fed regularly by the students. The nurturing of the plants was also undertaken by the students.
• Proper waste management
• Shredding of plastic waste with the aid of plastic shredding machine in the campus.
• Organizing annual summer school programme ‘Manimala’ for school students from 2006 onwards.
• Creating awareness about conservation of water and electricity.
