Principal's Message

Mar Athanasius College, founded by a group of educationists in 1955, has the avowed aim of providing university education to deserving students irrespective of their caste, creed and religion. It desires to educate its young men and women to serve the society in justice, truth and love. It fosters an atmosphere of intellectual vigor and moral rectitude in which the youth may find their fulfillment and achieve greatness as eminent men and women of service

Apart from being conferred with a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ since 2009 and the Autonomous status by UGC on 29, February 2016, the College has been accredited with an A+ grade in the third cycle of reaccreditation by NAAC and  we aspires to become a leader in higher education by becoming a deemed university. In this process of self-actualization, every stakeholder including Management, Staff and Students has a vital role to play. We have to contribute our might, harness all our resources as well as facilities and avenues available in the campus to support our students for education. Let us judiciously combine research with classroom-teaching, curricular with co-extracurricular activities, and activism with discipline. Certainly, this process requires collective planning and subsequent implementation of the shared vision demanding strong commitment on the part of all the stakeholders. Educated as we are by the society, we have the added obligation to educate our next generation and enlighten them. The education we offer should be value-based, the research we carry out should be socially relevant and the outreach programmes we undertake should be life-affirming. As educationists, we are also expected to provide the upcoming institutions with consultancy in areas ranging from teaching to evaluation. In particular, our research has to produce new knowledge and create networking with industry to acquire the required resources. The aim of our holistic education should be shaping up the personality, moulding the mind and forming the character of the youth who would in turn participate in nation building exercise. Let us contribute towards making the nation a land of production, not a land of consumerism. I thank God Almighty for His boundless blessings on us to spend a period of fruitful curricular and co-curricular activities involving Management, Staff and Students all these years.
