MBA THROUGH CONVERGENCE SCHEME

MBA through convergence scheme is an innovative programme of IGNOU. It is a new scheme conceived jointly by IGNOU, UGC and AICTE under the guidance of Ministry of Human Resource Development. The objective of the scheme is to meet the projected XIth Plan access rates for tertiary education. The said programmes are offered as full time regular programmes at Mar Athanasius College. At M.A. College, we pride ourselves on promoting a culture that encourages open minds, fosters superior communication and creates possibilities. These programmes are led by dedicated and talented teachers with proven track records.

The Department of Management Studies is now offering two streams of specialization, viz., MBA (Financial Management) and MBA(Marketing).

CONVERGENCE OF CONCEPTS

MBA at M.A. College is a new age idea driven by the 5Cs- Convergence, Connectivity, Collaboration, Creativity and Communication. These are the driving forces of the new economy that fundamentally transform our lives. Management education at MA College is intended to facilitate unbound exploration of ideas. In order to facilitate this process the College draws upon various streams of thought and integrates these in the educational process. With the synergy of new technology, knowledge, and tools the College has evolved an integrated management educational process to train young managers and computer personal for the new economy. With such comprehensive training the students would be able to find excellent placements.

“Life Skills” is an integrated part of our curriculum wherein emphasis is ion personality refinement so that holistic development of our students is ensured. Students imbibe entrepreneurial skills, communication skills, interpersonal and social skills so that they are ready to face real life situations and challenges once they step out into corporate world. A team of experts train our students in leadership techniques, team management, strategic planning and decision making. MA College organizes study tours for the benefit of students, who get to know how organizations function. This first-hand experience helps the students when they become part of the corporate world. Full time corporate trainer is part of the faculty team.

PLACEMENTS

Active placement Coordination Committee: The placement committee coordinates the placement activities of the College from day one and also acts as a liaison between the hiring organization and the students, to enable both to match each other’s requirements. The committee takes care of the correspondence with the prospective employers, arranges pre-placement talks, campus interviews and provides other facilities that may be required by the visiting organizations. At MA College, the learning process is very strong in providing conceptual and academic inputs; the task of equipping students with all other soft skills is the responsibility of the Placement Committee. The Placement Committee organizes a series of aptitude tests, mock interviews, oral presentations, alumni feedback and practice GD sessions for the students. These have proved to be very useful.
