Mar Athanasius College has forayed into the realm of e-learning and has introduced the Remote Learning Network System and technology enabled virtual classrooms in the campus. The technology for this is provided by Everonn Systems India Ltd., which has set up an exclusive VSAT terminal in the college campus. This provides students an unparalleled opportunity for quality education and training through a judicious blend of content, pedagogy and technology.
Overcoming the limitations of time and space, the satellite learning system offers interactive virtual classrooms with the aid of VSAT. When a teacher present in the studio teaches the students, it is transferred via satellite to the learning centre at the campus. At the learning centre, the students can see, listen and participate in the lecture through a computer and a DLP projector connected to the VSAT receiver.
The courses offered through the satellite system are meant for students who want to supplement their traditional courses with on-the-job skills. These include non-academic programmes aimed at developing the learners’ life skills and academic programmes to enhance the learners’ soft skills such as communication and presentation skills, technical skills required for professional careers, and competitive skills to get through professional entrance examinations.
