Inauguration of Organising Committee Office 3/1/21                  


The inauguration of the Organising Committee Office for the South Zone and Inter University Football Championship (Men) (5-16 January ) was done by Dr. Winny Varghese, Secretary, Mar Athanasius College Association. Around 95 teams are competing in this championship.

South Zone and Inter University Football Championship (Men) ( 5-16 January ) was Inaugurated by Adv. Dean Kuriakose , M.P, Idukki. Adv. Reji Sacharia, Syndicate Member M.G. University presided over the meeting. Dr. Shanti A Avira, Principal, M.A. College, delivered the welcome address.  Dr. Winny Varghese delivered the introductory speech. HG.Dr . Mathews Mar Aphrem rendered the words of blessing. Felicitation was delivered by Sri. Shibu Kuriakose, Municipal Counsellor, Kothamangalam. Band was played by the band team of Newman College, Thodupuzha, and the best N.C.C Unit of Kerala. Flags of AIU, MG University an Mar Athansius College were hoisted by Dr. Biju Thomas, Dr. Reji  Zacharia and

Day 1 (5/1/22)


 

   

1. The host team of the tournament, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam defeated Rani Channama University, Karnataka by 9-0 in the match held at the Stadium of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. Salahuddin Adinan K (J No 14) of Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam secured the first goal within the first five minutes for the host team. Nimshad Roshan ( J No 21) of Maharaja‘S College, Ernakulam surprised as he scored 2 goals for the host. Mohammed Roshan of Baselios College, Kottayam ( J No 12), Akhil J Chandran of Baselios College, Kottayam ( J No 2), Gifty C Gracious ( No 6)of Baselios College, Kottayam, Mohammed Salim ( J No 22) of Baselios College, Mohammed Ajsal (J No 7) of M A College, Bibin Boban ( J No 2) of Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam too secured goals for M G University.


2. The match on5/1/22 between Acharya Nagarjuna University. Andra Pradesh and Kerala Agricultural University finished as a 5-0 victory for Acharya Nagarjuna University, AP. M Sairam of Acharya Nagarjuna University scored two goals .


3. DR MGR Education and Research, Chennai emerges victorious in the day I South Zone Inter University ( Men’s) Championship. The team defeated Gandhigram Rural Institute ,Dindigul . It was a four - nil to Dr MGR Education and Research .


4. Manonmaniam Sundarnar University defeated NUALS in the south zone inter university football ( Men) . NUALS lost 5-0 to Manonmaniam Sundarnar University.


5. In the match between Sri Krishna Devaraya University, Ananthapuramu and Bengaluru City University,Bangalore it is 4- nil to Bengaluru City University.


6. B S Abdu Rahman Crescent Institute of Science andTechnology emerges victorious in the day I South Zone Inter University ( Men’s). The team defeated Central University , Kasargod.It was a 3-1 victory through penalty shootout.
 .


7. Sree Sankaracharya University, Kalady defeated Rajiv Gandhi Health University , Bangalore in the south zone inter university football ( Men) . Rajiv Gandhi Health University lost 6-0 to SSU, Kalady.


8. The match between TelenganaUniversity, Nizamabad Andhra Pradesh and University of Hyderabad finished as a 2-0 victory for Telengana University.


9. Chaitanya University , Warangal emerges victorious in the day I South Zone Inter University ( Men’s) Championship. The team defeated Bharat Institute of Higher Education, Chennai.It was a 4 - nil to Chaitanya Warangal.


10. In a suspense filled match between Saveetha Institute of Medical Science, Chennai and Krishna University, Machalipuram. The latter emerged victorious with 7 goals scored through penalty shootout .Score 7-6.

 

Day 2 (6/1/22)


    

1.    APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University defeated Adikavi Nannaya University, AP score-5-0

2.    It’s a decisive second victory for MG Unvty Kottayam against AMET Unvty, Chennai.

              Score 8-0, The host team of the tournament, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam defeated AMET University, Chennai by 8-0 in the match held at the Stadium of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering. This is the second victory for the team. Harishankar (J No 9 Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam ), hit the first goal for the host . Nimshad Roshan (J No 21 Maharaja’s College )secured two goals in this match also .Arjun V (Nirmala College, )Muvattupuzha too scored two goals.,Mohammed Ajasal ( M A College, Kothamangalam)Sahad SS and , Nithin Wilson of Baselios College, Kottayam won goals for the team.

3.       Kakatiya Unvty Warangal won the match against JNTU Unvty .Score 3-1

4.      Vignan University , Guntur lost 2-0 Yogi Vemana University, Kadappa in another match.

5.      Mandya University has a brilliant victory against Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore. It’s a 9-0 win for Mandya University.

6.      Bengaluru North University,Kolar defeated GITAM , Vishakapattanam. Score 7-0.

7.      Veterinary University , Kerala is defeated by Venepoya University, Mangalore. Score 5-0

8.      Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Bellary defeated B S Abdu Rahman Crescent Institute, Chennai. Score 7-0

9.      Manonmaniam Sundarnar Unvty is victorious in the match against Kerala University of Health And Sciences, Thrissur. Score 2-0

10.  Sri Venkateshwara university emerges victorious in the match against Krishna University, Machalipatanam. Score 6-0

11.  Bengaluru City University wins the match with a whopping score 10-1 in the match against Satavahana University , Karimnagar.

12.  Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai defeated Bharatidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Score 3-1

13.  VELS Chennai wins the match against Bharathiyar University , Coimbatore, Tamilnadu Score 2-0

14.  CUSAT defeated by JAIN university. Score 4-1

15.  Sree Shankaracharya University, Kalady defeated JNTU Kakkinad. Score 5-0

16.  Alagappa Uty defeated by Pondichery University. Score-4-1

17.  Visweswaramurthy technological university, Belgavi won the match against University of Tumkur, Karnataka. Score 4-0

18.  It’s victory for Annamalai University (3-0) against PES university, Bangalore

19.  Vinayaka Mission’s Research Education, Salem defeats Karunya Institute of Technology and Science. ( 4-0)

Admirable Victory for MG university: Hatrick for Gifty Gracious

MG University routed Dr. MGR university in the decisive match of Inter University South Zone held at Mar Athanasius Stadium. MG university scored eight goals and it’s a nil for MGR University. (8-0). Gifty Gracious( Baselios College) scored hatrick. Nimshad ( Maharaja’s College) earned 2 goals in this match also. Harishankar ,Soyal Joshy( Maharajas College), Roshan ( Baselios College), too scored goals.

League match report (9/1/22)

The own goal of Calicut University, the South Zone FootballChampions led to MG’s victory in the in the League Championship at MA College Stadium 1 It’s a one -nil to M G University. The own goal was by Thejus Krishna (J No 15)in the 18 th minute .

In the League match between Kerala University and S R M , Kerala scored two goals against SRM. John Paul (34 th min) and Jacob (40 th min)strike one goal each for the team.

Day 6  (10/1/22)


   

 M G university beats SRM university in a tight match. Score 2-1. Gifty gracious’ 24th min goal and Roshan’s 42nd min goal saved the team . SRM attempted a comeback by Allan Rahul’s 68 th min goal.

It’s a tie in the University of Kerala VS Calicut University. Shahid of Kerala University and Suhail of Calicut scored the goal for each team. (1-1)

The Final

MG university wins the South Zone Inter University Championship

MG university brings home the South Zone Inter University Championship trophy after 28 years.

It was a tie in the final match between MG University and Kerala University (0-0) held at M A College Stadium.MG University won the cup after a series of victories in all the matches played by them.
Kerala University , Calicut University and SRM won the 2, 3, & 4th positions respectively.

1. MG Unvty defeated Guru Nanak Dev University ( 2-1) Nithin Wilson’s goal in the 21st minute and Bibin Boban’s goal in the 66 th minute led to Mg’s victory. Guru Nanak Dev Unvty attempted a comeback through Jang Bachdu’s goal in the 84 th minute. MG Unvty routed GuruNanak Dev.

AIIU football final


 

Calicut University won the 2021-22 edition of the All India Inter- university Football Championship against Sant Baba Singh University. It is for the 11th time Calicut University winning the Championship. The last win of the university was in 2018. Satheevan Balan is the coach of the team. Under his training, the team won the cup four times. He served as the coach of the Santosh Trophy Team 2018- Kerala, wherein Kerala won the trophy.

Mishal P K and Suhail P K of Calicut University are selected as the best striker and best goalkeeper respectively. Ajay Alex of MG University is adjudged as the Best Defender and Nithin Wilson of the same university is the Best Midfielder.
